Families with Children

Families of all sizes, shapes, and hues are welcome and cherished at Old South. Most weeks we start worship as an intergenerational community and then invite children and teens to attend Sunday School.* On the first Sunday of the month, children are invited to start the day in children's chapel, located in our education wing. They will then join the adults at the end of the service to partake in communion—God's feast for those big and small.

May I keep my child in worship?
Yes! As Jesus said, "Let the children come." We understand that hard pews are sometimes difficult for nursing moms or squirmy bodies, so a special area with rocking chairs is in available on the choir side of the sanctuary. Clipboards with activity sheets that correspond to the weekly worship theme are available at the entrance to the sanctuary. Additionally, the first Sunday of the month is designated as "Family Worship," which means that the liturgy is adapted for kids and the service is more interactive. A special children's bulletin that mirrors the adult bulletin is available on those Sundays.
What are your Sunday School and youth group options like?
Please see our Children & Youth ministries page.
May I baptize my child here?
Through the sacrament of Christian baptism, our young ones are affirmed as children of God and welcomed into both our church family and the circle of Christ’s church. Baptism is available for children of all ages. Please contact us if you'd like to learn more.
*We do not have Sunday School during the summer months. The nursery is available year-round.
