Our Values
No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.
We practice a radical welcome. It doesn't matter if you have faith or doubts, what you look like, who you love, where you've been, or what you've gone through. You are truly welcome at Old South. We must work for the common good. We offer sanctuary to the marginalized, act locally and globally, cherish people and the planet. We are the body of Christ, manifesting the Kingdom of God here on Earth. We love our neighbors as ourselves. We forgive ourselves and others. We feed the hungry, befriend the lonely, comfort the suffering, and stand up for the oppressed. God is in everyone. All faith is a journey, for individuals and the church as a whole. Faith is not a fixed dogma, but a way of life. We seek the wisdom of our elders and cherish the voices of our youth. We value tradition but embrace change. We value our faith community—our spiritual home—for its rootedness in communion, deep sharing, and compassion. We seek God in one another and celebrate each person's spiritual growth. We foster vulnerability and trust. We name our fears and work through them together. |
